April 3rd, 2010 with a German Jedi-Con exclusive convention 2-pack, which featured Bounty Hunters 4-Lom and Zuckuss (later in August 2010, the same set was a Celebration V exclusive in the United States)For this toy line, Hasbro decided to bring back the original vintage Star Wars packaging look from the late 70's and 80's with the silver bordersThe Vintage Collection (TVC) featured figures from all six movies and the expanded universeAfter the initial two waves around August 2010, figures were difficult to find in storesWhen wave 3 was released onto store shelves around Christmas time, it sold out instantly and many collectors were left empty handedAfter that, some collectors couldn't find wave 4 and 5 until around April 2011Throughout 2011, distribution was horrible, and figures were very difficult to findIn the Summer 2011, Hasbro released a San Diego Comic Con (and HasbroToyShop.com) exclusive "Revenge Of The Jedi" Death Star set, which contained 14 figures. The two figures exclusive to this set were Salacious Crumb and a Mouse DroidThe Death Star set was fantastic, but the two exclusive figures were a let down. Not only were the figures re-releases, but their vintage-style cardbacks were smaller than all the other vintage-style cards (so they just don't fit in well with the rest of the collection)In January 2012, Hasbro launched their Episode I line-up to support the 3D release of The Phantom MenaceAt first the new figures sold out quickly, but soon after, wave 1 figures from The Phantom Menace peg-warmed and could be found throughout 2012 without difficultyJust as it was the case in 2011, new figures were nearly impossible to find in 2012Toy Runs, which up to the year 2010 and 2011 were considered an essential part of the hobby, became obsolete. Most figures had to be ordered through online stores, which came at a premium priceIn the Summer of 2012, Hasbro released a Carbon Freezing Chamber set, which was exclusively available at San Diego Comic Con (and later at HasbroToyShop.com)The set contained seven figures, with Jar Jar Binks in Carbonite being the only exclusive figure to this setAll other six figures were released at regular retail stores in vintage-style packaging and the "LOST LINE LOOK"The "LOST LINE" look, which featured cardbacks from a rejected prototype design from the late 1970's was a nice tribute and gave collectors a look at "what could have been" (and thankfully never was)During Hasbro's convention tour in 2012, it was announced that The Vintage Collection would go on hiatus for a while and that the Legacy Collection II with the Build-A-Droid feature would return in early 2013Throughout the lifespan of the Vintage Collection, Hasbro released some of the best quality Star Wars Action Figures ever released with fantastic character likenesses and lots of articulationHasbro also managed to update some long overdue figures with releases such as Ponda Boba, Dr. Evazan, Governor Tarkin and many others. Our all time favorite figure from The Vintage Collection is the Gamorrean Guard!Unfortunately, Hasbro disgruntled collectors with horrible distribution and a lack of fan support with no exclusive item at Star Wars Celebration VIThe last wave of the Vintage Collection was an online exclusive, which meant there was no new product on the shelves at regular retail stores during the 2012 Holiday seasonIn December 2012, Hasbro announced that the Vintage Collection would not end in 2012, and that they would re-release hard-to-find figures in 2013.
