The Legacy Collection
The Legacy Collection toy line debuted on July 26, 2008 (check out the Midnight Madness event) along with The Clone Wars toy line. The TLC featured almost the same
white packaging as The Clone Wars, but was aimed more at collectors than kids. TLC's focus is on a more
real representation of the character, you'll find more obscure and side characters in this series, and
you'll see a focus on more joint articulated figures. When the series was launched it was pretty successful,
however, in early 2009 individually carded TLC figures cost as much as $8.99 plus tax, and a steep price like
that had many collectors only picking up the figures they really wanted.
Hasbro changed the packaging for The Legacy Collection and The Clone Wars Collection in August/September 2009 to a red/white background with the intention to correspond roughly with the second season of The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network and to celebrate the launch of all new episodes. Official excerpt: "The red colorway for this year honors ARC-77, an Advanced Recon Commando Captain. His name is Captain Fordo. Besides being a hero, his distinct red color was a great choice as an episode break from the previous blue."
