I have more information about a cape and inner robe set from a guy named KevVader on some of the "vader-boards". I've read and heard from several people that he is the one to go to for some accurate Vader capes, but he only makes them available on a very limited basis. I didn't really consider pm'ing him, but driven by my curiosity I ended up doing it anyways.
I've found out that he is in the process of making a set for somebody else, and that he has enough material left for another set. This is his last set until fall. He is based in Canada, and asks for $625 Canadian dollars, plus shipping. Delivery time is 4 - 6 weeks ...
The cape is made out of Merino wool, he uses real lambskin leather for the collar and satin acetate lining. He also incorporates screen accurate details. Best of all, he makes them Prowse sized! I'll have to talk to my wife about this, maybe I'll be able to swing it ...

The big kahuna of German action figure websites is closing it's gates for good. The website was run by two guys for about 10 years, they dedicated all their spare time to this project and decided that it was time to take a break, or more or less retire for good. It took up too much of their lives.
I've frequently visited the website not only for the news, but also to get a different opinion on the "figure collecting" world from a more German point of view than my own americanized-german opinion. I for one will most definitely miss their reports and updates.

One of my favorite collecting sites is www.rebelscum.com. I visit this website multiple times a day to see what's new in the world of Star Wars collecting. However, sometimes I can't help but wonder what the fuck is going on with them. Let's take today for example, they actually dedicated an entire article to people who are incapable of handling their money, an article that focuses on helping people who are literally obsessed with Star Wars T O Y S. Yes, TOYS. An article which focuses on how to spend your money with a nice example which demonstrates how to save up if you want to buy 4 comic books a month. It's fucking ridiculous.
I think it's very strange to cater to that kind of audience, I think it's insulting to assume it's necessary to post something like this and that the majority of Star Wars collectors don't know how to deal with the overflow of collectible toys coming at them. Do they assume that all Star Wars collectors are idiots? Obviously they do. Here's the full article: http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Collecting_In_The_Modern_Age_114402.asp

This year has been a pretty active year so far in terms of the life size Vader which I am trying to build. At this point I have a very good idea where to get the rest of the pieces and it's now just a matter of available finances ...
Here are the parts which I have so far:
- Helmet
- Chest Armor (in 1 week)
- Gloves
- Boots
- Shin Guards
- Lightsaber
I still need:
- Mannequin (about $200)
- 3 piece Body Suit (real leather) ($599 - $1,400)
- Chest Computer (about $500)
- Cape and inner cape (about $500)
- Cod piece (about $150)
- Belt (about $50 from a friend)
The next piece I am going to acquire is the mannequin so I can put the helmet and the chest armor where they need to go. After that I will need to get a body suit, which is causing me some headache because I can not figure out the quality differences between a TMP suit and the one they are selling on Ebay for about half as much. Italian leather vs. Argentinian leather ... From what it looks like though I will go with Argentinian leather, simply because it's more affordable. With a little bit of luck, I might be able to get a Gino chest computer, which will probably run me about 500 bucks ...
