This generic Battle Droid was released in a Target exclusive 2-pack in 2009 together with Jedi Knight Joclad Danva. The set was part of the Geonosis Arena Showdown series, which started in 2009 during The Legacy Collection, and by Fall of 2010 consisted of twelve 2-packs totaling 24 figures. Red Battle Droids can be seen in Attack Of The Clones in many different scenes towards the latter part of the movie.
Hasbro has released this sculpt several times, and it's identical to the 2010 version of the red Battle Droid (with Rodian Jedi), which was also included in the Geonosian Arena Showdown series.
The Battle Droid has 12 joints, including a ball-joined neck, 2 ball-jointed shoulders, 2 swivel elbows, 2 ball-jointed legs, 2 swivel knees and 2 swivel ankles. The neck can also be pulled out, extending the head. The figure stands surprisingly well, despite the skinny legs and loose joints, but it might take a while until you get it to look right. The antenna on the back of the figure plugs nicely into the hole and the blaster fits very well into both hands.
The battle-worn look, and the dirt on the entire body looks great. Unfortunately, Hasbro forgot to paint the eyes on the droid's head. The droid's sculpt is pretty good overall, but the plastic it's made out of just feels very thin. But, the sculpt captures the look of these droids quite well. The coolest feature on the droid is that you can set it into "sleep mode" and fold it up like it was first seen in the Phantom Menace. All in all, it's an OK figure (more of the same ...), and not the "ultimate version" of this character yet.
