This Gunswaist Pilot was released in Fall of 2009's The Legacy Collection, in a battle pack titled Geonosis Assault. The battle pack contained two of this clone trooper figure, and a Gunswaist pod where the figure can sit inside. The Gunswaist pod can be attached to a Gunswaist, or it can be a stand-alone unit. Gunswaist Pilots were very briefly seen in Attack Of The Clones, when Anakin and Obi-Wan are trying to capture Count Dooku.
The clone trooper is super articulated with 14 joints, including a ball-jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, knees and ankles. The only swivel joints are in both wrists. The pilot's helmet is a good fit and easily covers the entire head. The chest box is permanently attached to the helmet, but hangs down loosely on the front of the trooper. There is no hole in the figure's chest where the chest box can be plugged in, like on some other pilot figures. This is great, because if you want to display the figure without the helmet on, you won't see a hole in the chest. The included blaster is a great fit for either of the Gunswaist Pilot's hands, and won't fall out every time you reposition the clone. The figure does fit in the Gunswaist pod, it's a very tight fit, but with enough patience, it's possible to make it look OK.
The paint application is cleanly applied with no smudges or paint errors, and the armor is kept in a pristine condition without any dirt or battle markings. The head sculpt, and the mold are not something we haven't seen yet before when it comes to clone troopers, but all in all, it's a nice, super articulated figure. If you are looking for clone troopers to pilot your Gunswaist, this version is probably the one you want to pick up.
Clone Troopers arrive on Geonosis in Republic Gunships to support the Jedi, who are battling Geonosian warriors and battle droids. Troopers in armored spheres operate the bubble-turret cannons that extend with laser fire in this opening salvo of the Clone Wars.
