Compare this Ki-Adi Mundi figure
This Ki-Adi Mundi figure in Battle Dress was released by Hasbro in November 2009 as part of The Legacy Collection. The figure is based on an Episode III concept sketch created by Derek Thompson - which shows Ki-Adi Mundi battle scarred with only one eye.
The Jedi Master is super articulated with 14 joints - including ball-joints in the neck - shoulders - elbows - knees and ankles. Ki-Adi Mundi's eye patch is molded into the head and can't be removed. His battle poncho is made out of soft plastic and is not meant to be removed. Although - if you tried hard enough - you could probably get it off. The lightsaber is not the typical bluish lightsaber which we all know - it's a more "see-through" - lighter bluish color. It sits a bit loose in the figure's hands - but fits well enough to not be annoying. There are no balancing issues - and thanks to holes in the feet you can place the figure on a stand if you'd prefer that.
The paint application on the figure is a bit of a let down. Take a look at the head shot of Ki-Adi Mundi and look at the beard. You'll notice a spot where the paint wasn't applied well and looks kind of scratched off - but this might be different from figure to figure. The rest of the figure is kept in a "clean" appearance without any dirt or battle markings - which is an odd choice on Hasbro's behalf because the figure is based on a "battle version" of the character - where the concept art shows a worn out - dirty looking Ki-Adi Mundi. The cape and the jedi tunic are also missing the patterns shown in the concept drawing.
Despite that - it's still a cool looking figure. It's super articulated - a never-before-done Ki-Adi Mundi figure and chances are that you'll enjoy this figure if you decide to add it to your collection.
In this Episode III concept art by Derek Thompson - Ki-Adi-Mundi wears a cape and has an eyepatch over one eye. This more battle-weary appearance was designed to indicated that the Clone Wars have been raging for years and are taking their toll on the Jedi.
