This R2-D2 action figure was released in
2007 in The Anniversary Collection.
Hasbro gave the figure six joints and included
four accessories (2 rocket boosters, flames, coin).
Here is what we noticed when we took a closer look at the Droid:
- R2-D2 was released individually carded
This particular figure is based on the moment when R2-D2 takes on two Super Battle Droids at the beginning of Revenge Of The Sith
The two rocket booster attachments can be plugged into R2-D2's legs
The "flame base" attaches nicely to the rocket boosters, which lets R2-D2 be displayed up in the air!
The paint application on R2 is pretty well done with some oil splashes and yellowish "fire" on the bottom of the droid
The dome can be rotated 360 degrees, which then moves the middle leg in and out of the droid (there is no clicking sound though)
All three feet have small wheels in them
There are no panels on the droid which could be opened
This figure works well together with the Super Battle Droid, which was released at the same time
The articulation details are as follows: rotatable dome, 2 swivel legs, 3 swivel ankles
Given to improvisation, which is itself a unique trait for a droid, R2-D2 has fought his way out of more sticky situations than most. From unorthodox uses for his arc welder to jets of highly flammable lubricants, this little droid always has a trick or two just beneath his chassis.
