This concept Chewbacca figure was released individually carded in 2007 as part of The Anniversary Collection. Chewie is based on concept art created by Ralph McQuarrie for the original Star Wars movie.
The Wookiee has a total of 14 joints, with swivel joints in both shoulders, forearms, the waist, and both legs. The neck, both elbows, knees and ankles are ball-jointed. The figure is very tall, about two heads taller than a basic Star Wars action figure, but there are no balancing problems. But, Hasbro added the typical peg holes in Chewbacca's feet if you'd like to use a stand for a more secure stance. There were two weapons included with Chewie, a blaster and a blaster rifle. Both weapons barely fit into the Wookiee's paws, and are very likely to fall out once you reposition the figure. The smaller blaster fits nicely into the holster though, which is located on the figure's right side of the waist. The plastic harness around the shoulders is permanently attached to the skirt, and can't be removed.
The paint application on the McQuarrie Chewbacca is OK, and features lots of various brown and green color tones. The facial area is painted especially nice, with the eyes and teeth being spot on. Even the one bigger gap between the teeth is there. All in all, this concept Chewbacca is aesthetically very pleasing when compared to the concept drawings by Ralph McQuarrie, and its size is remarkable. It's annoying though that the figure can't hold the weapons right, but with a little bit of patience you might get it to look the way that you want. It's definitely a different, more creepy looking Chewbacca, but if you are into the Ralph McQuarrie concept series, you'll want to pick this one up.
